As for CLAD, state law requires you to have an appropriate English learner authorization if you teach in a classroom with an English learner. And in California, there are very few classrooms without at least one. Districts used to overlook the lack of the authorization. But most of the districts around here have already required all teachers to get it to keep teaching, and all new hires are required to be as well. This one could bite you at the end of any year. I have met numerous teachers who whined about having to get ceritified by the end of the summer or lose their jobs. The good news is that most recently credentialled teachers already have the equivalent as part of the SB 2042 credential.
