Our History – Mexico Caravan Ministries

In 1985, Dave was invited by leaders of the PRD (the Communist political party of Mexico) to work in the new El Florido section of the city. In 1989, the Baptist General Conference hosted Serve ’89 – a denomination-wide, short-term youth mission trip. Dave was asked to coordinate the Mexico portion of the trip. At the completion of the week, 100 youth committed their lives to pursuing full-time missions.

Guadalajara travel guide – Wikitravel

It can be hard to spot bus stops in Guadalajara, in theory there should be a signpost with a blue sign and a picture of bus as well as triangular markings on the road with the word \’Parada\’ meaning stop. However these aren\’t always there or the markings having been removed with time. Look around and see where there\’s a crowd of people waiting, sometimes there are even seats, if not, the buses might stop at the corner or in front of traffic lights. If they drive past you, keep looking at them and try to see where they stop.

If you know a bit of Spanish, try using this page [1]. It has most of the bus routes. Alternatively, this page [2] may fill in any routes the other page doesn\’t handle.

Guadalajara Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

If you land in Guadalajara by plane, but want to catch a bus to go elsewhere, do like I did: Take a taxi to the New Central bus station (220 pesos per taxi, a ticket for which you buy in the airport, but find someone who is going there too and split the fare), then leave your bags in the secure bag storage place at the bus station (30 pesos), bus your ticket for your long distance bus ride in the evening at this time, take a city bus into downtown ( 6 pesos), find tourist info office for a map, visit many sites all close together, have lunch, take bus back out to bus station, pick up you bag and take your evening bus to wherever. I went to Guanajuato. I did the reverse at the end of my trip as well, visiting downtown again for the day, and flying out in the evening. Good use of time. Guadalajara is quiete beautiful, exciting, and historic.

Lonely Planet review

Guadalajara\’s long-distance bus terminal is the Nueva Central Camionera , a large modern V-shaped terminal that is split into seven separate módulos (mini-terminals). Each módulo has ticket desks for a number of bus lines, plus rest rooms and cafeterias. The Nueva Central Camionera is 9km southeast of Guadalajara city center, past Tlaquepaque.

Ancient city yielding new clues in Michoacan, Mexico – Los Angeles Times

Finding that the urban center’s population fell as the capital, Tzintzuntzan, grew will also help rewrite the history of the Purépecha, who were also known as Tarascans, said archaeologist Gary Feinman of Chicago’s Field Museum, who was not involved in the research.
